Intel is positioning their 975x in the performance segment & 965 as the midrange segment but as far as I think that both chipsets provide nearly identical performances.975x is much more pricey than the 965 boards.I don't know why ? Some 965 boards r outperforming some 975x boards in some reviews. Then why 965 is not in the performance or enthusiast segment ?

The 965P is a performance board. Intel has a tradition of a hi-lo mix ala 820 810, 925 915, 955 945, 975 965 but truthfully, the performance difference isn't worth the additional cost most of the time, and in fact in some cases the performance between high and their mainstream is non-existent.
