This new NF4 platform has some very serious potential to become a forerunner of the desktop market, and with increased performance, better security and a cartload of options it should be embraced by the AMD crowd with open arms this holiday season. Dual VGA cards in an SLI configuration will grab the attention of the high-end gaming crowd and breathe new life into the dying PC game world, which is good news for the die-hard gamers out there who thirst for new innovation to the platform.
New security issues make the new NF4 platform appealing as well and that will go a long way with any user. With the new control you now have over your LAN environment, people who have never ventured outside of their standard arena of usage may be able to experiment and experience their own safe hosting of their favorite games. You can plan a game at 10pm and have only your friends join and restrict any outside interference with just the click of a button, eliminating the fear of hackers or other unwanted visitors from invading your system. This is just a great tool all the way around and shows NVIDIA has sincerely done their homework on what users want as features on their motherboards.
I think as new boards are released and this chipset matures, AMD has a very strong partner in NVIDIA, and that can make a big difference in platform support. With all the new features that are being offered here, other chipset makers will be playing catch-up to equal the options offered by the NF4 and for the moment that gives them the edge over the competition. NVIDIA has done a great job with the NF4 and it shows in all the attention to detail that has gone into the design of this new chipset. Look for boards from all the manufactures starting to hit the shelves around the time this review posts and you will see that all the major players will have a board based on the NF4 chipset. Thanks for coming by NVIDIA, this round you have made a winner.
