AMD FX-55/4000+ CPU Review :: Conclusion
AMD has certainly proved they can make a fast processor, and one that can beat or compete with anything Intel can currently throw at them. Even with the fastest and best CPU for games, how they can get the market share that Intel has will still plague AMD in the current theme of events. Intel still dominates the market. That is the grand event that is going to have to change if AMD wants to get the lions share or even fair share of the market. Intel has got the hold on big hitters in the personal PC business as companies like Dell, HP and others all spout the Intel Inside motto as a major draw and selling point to their potential customers. Name branding; Intel's got it in the CPU business and until the market recognizes and accepts AMD in the same light, Intel will continue to sell more systems. This fact is, irregardless of who makes a faster or better CPU the company that is a household name will be more market acceptable to the average Joe or Jane. AMD has the faster CPU and has some strong supporting partners that are strengthening their platform. I have to say in all candidness that the nForce4 release was to me more exciting to me than the LGA775 release, as it helps breath a little fresh air into an otherwise very stale market. Does AMD need a green man group to help gain them some community awareness? Perhaps some strange little green guys doing a Vegas stint will bring them the kind of familiarity that Intel has such an intense hold on. I am sorry to say this, but in my reality only computer jockeys know what AMD is and stands for. I mean if I ask the question have you heard of AMD to say, some non computer oriented individual they usually give me a blank stare followed by a monotone no. On the other hand even Jed the chicken farmer out in nowhere, nowhere land has heard of Intel and if he was going to buy a computer to help sell his eggs he would probably first off consider an Intel. If AMD can only get their name branding down to a science so that they are a household name, they now more than ever before have a chance to seriously compete against the Intel giant in the CPU business. The FX55 is a worthy adversary to anything available for the desktop PC, and for gamers it should hold even more appeal as it excel in that area especially. Good Job AMD, now how about that little green men commercial? Doc out
