My initial feelings about this entire platform are starting to soften a bit as I see BIOS flashes and other patches being released to improve upon the stability and performance of the new Intel 915/925X platforms, which in my eyes started out on the wrong foot. ASUS put a lot of time and energy developing this motherboard and it shows in its design implementations. Out of all the boards I have yet received to review for the new Intel platforms, the P5AD2 Premium is the most fully featured available and leaves not much you could possibly desire as far as feature options are concerned. I mean wireless/Gigabit LAN, on-board sound, IEE1394 and all of the board's other inherent features make it a very desirable product for the end user.
I think that potentially users in general may experience growing pains with the new Intel platform as it matures into a seriously robust solution but ASUS did a good job with this board especially considering all the hurdles there were in just getting the new chipset to market. The ABIT and GIGABYTE versions of the 925X board are also very nice but the P5AD2 was top shelf. So what we get in the final verdict is this my friends; ASUS has made the fastest off the shelf board for the 925X platform and it is a board that has an abundant amount of options. These are all the basic elements that come into play when a user is determining what motherboard they are going to be using and I can highly recommend the P5AD2 to anyone looking to get onto the new LGA775 platform, whether you be the basic user or the hard core enthusiasts type. Good job ASUS! This is a board that qualifies for our Editor's Choice Award as it has what it takes to be a winner. If you want you can buy the board from our friends over at Monarch Computer.
