GIGABYTE M57SLI-S4 Motherboard Review :: BIOS and Overclocking

The GIGABYTE M57SLI-S4 has two Award BIOS's. This is similar in configuration to many other motherboards. GIGABYTE has something called the Motherboard Intelligent Tweaker (M.I.T.) to overclock with various settings changeable in Setup.

The CPU frequency can be set from 200-300MHz in 1MHz increments. The PCI Express clock can be set from 100MHz-145MHz. CPU Clock sets the CPU multiplier. Our 5000+ (2.6GHz) set from x1-x13. M.I.B. also allows you to up the memory voltage up to +0.7V. DDR 2 frequencies can be set automatically. Memory Clk can be set to 400, 667, or 800, the highest frequency currently supported by AMD's platform.

BIOS chip

Overclocking on the board was a bit of a mixed bag. I was able to overclock the CPU 100% stably to 2.86, or 10% using GIGABYTE's Easy Tune 5 software. Your mileage may differ with overclocking, as the 5000+ didn't overclock very succesfully on this board.
