ECS KA3-MVP Extreme Motherboard Review :: KA3-MVP Extreme Layout and Bundle
The CPU area is fairly free of obstructions, making the fit of an after-market cooling solution possible on the ECS board. The fan on the I/O helps keep the CPU area cool and is not detrimental to the other devices on the back panel. The 4-pin power connector is below the CPU area meaning the cable has to cross over the CPU cooler. The 24-pin power connector is right above the IDE port 1. ECS put three USB headers, bringing the maximum on the board to 10 with the four on the back panel I/O. There are also two headers for IEEE-1394 Firewire devices. The Crossfire Xpress 3200 chip is cooled by a heat sink. I wish ECS had put a fan on the chip, as it gets warm during operation. There is a VIA VT6308P chip that supports the Firewire devices. The front panel connectors are not labeled, forcing you to look at the manual to make sure what pins to use.
The bundle on the board is extensive and a good match for the included accessories. The inclusion of a 2-port USB bracket brings the total to 6. An external SATA port brings the total of SATA devices supported by the board to 5. The software bundle includes many applications that are useful for a first-time motherboard purchaser. DPU stands for Data Protection Utility. Pro Magic Plus allows the user to restore their system to a previous save point. I'm InTouch is a remote control program that allows someone to access their PC via the Net. WinCinema is a suite of programs like WinDVD and WinCreater that is designed by InterVideo. Contents:
